Today was the last training for week 5. Alas, I ran just two times. I still have a lot of pain in my tendons in my feet. Today I combined this with an extraordinary hypo. We went back home because we forgot our timer, when I decided to measure my blood glucose because I felt(…)
Time flies when you are having fun. Not! Last few weeks things are not running very smoothly, literally. My left arm is bothering me, no I am not running on my arms but still. Running with a painful arm is not an optimal situation. My feet hurt. Maybe that has to do with the fact(…)
Week 3 of the schedule is 4 times 2 minutes running and 4 times 2 minutes walking. Still not a lot. But less pain in my muscles. I have the feeling that when I am warm and the rhythm is coming, it is the end of the training. I would like to run farther! For(…)
These are my Merrell’s, model Pace Glove. I don’t know if these are minimals or barefoot style shoes. It doesn’t matter. They are mine and I like em. I want another pair. Or Vibram Five Fingers.
It was really very hot today. A few weeks ago I bought Frio bags to keep my insulin cool on hot days. My bag, for two pens, must be soaked in water for eight minutes. The crystals in the bags will take up the water and the bag swells. After that the bag must lay(…)
We finished the first week, trained four times. Now we are in week 2 and I can tell you that everything is feeling better. My muscles, the shoes, everything. Week 2 consists of 16 minutes training, with an alternating minute running and walking. 16 minutes is not even 2 k. But hey, we are running!
New shoes, new way of running: barefoot style. On my new Merrell’s. New style of running means starting all over again. So the coming twelve weeks I’ll be on a very slow schedule. Starting today with one minute running, two minutes walking, times five. Fifteen minutes.
Sometimes you have a hundred thousand ideas, which you never write down, because they are too stupid, too recognizable, too emotional, too whatever. Which makes you write nothing at all. Which is even more stupid.
I know the outcome is flattered, because the GPS is not working the way it should, but my running buddy and me ran almost 13 kilometers today. And hey, that is quite a distance. And even though it may not have been 13 kilometers, it was by far the longest run we ran today. I(…)
Whenever I go for a run, I always take my smart phone in a sleeve around my arm. In a sleeve, sometimes even with a plastic bag around it (because of the sweat). It sucks. The GPS is not working properly lately. Only after a few kilometers the GPS starts working properly. Before that: zigzagging,(…)
The Spibelt has been tested. It is a very handy accessory when running. I put my meter, strips etc. in it, so I can test during a run. All my stuff fitted very well in the Spibelt. No shaking and not having the feeling of carrying loose stuff in a pocket. I wore the Spibelt(…)
Running and diabetes is not working out the way I would like it to. Sometimes my blood sugars are too high, which does not give you a nice feeling when running. Running too low is also not a very nice experience. So I am experimenting with that these days. A couple of days ago I(…)
Today it is two years ago that I was admitted in hospital and was diagnosed with diabetes. I didn’t know what happened. That I was sent home again with a box with pills and a blood glucose meter. Today I still don’t know what is happening every now and then. When my blood glucose values(…)
Polylang is the WordPress plugin I use here to publish this site in two languages. The plugin works very well but some things I found out while implementing. Things I’d like to have known before starting. But I did not read the manual… It is very important to choose a first language. From the first(…)
I found that for some posts English is far more accessible than Dutch, so I was in doubt: setting up a new site or putting up a translation for this site? I chose to implement a language plugin here. So, inkt.org is a multi language site now. Should you have any requests on certain topics,(…)
The new year has been a good start for me. I started insulin therapy and I picked up running again. Yay!
Grand Hotel is as per the 7th of December available as a Google Font. Astigmatic, the makers, are inspired by the film Cafe Metropole from 1937. At Fontsquirrel the font is available for free download. It is a lovely and usable font. I fell in love instantly…
I just found that there is a setting in WordPress that makes snow fall on your blog. On the 4th of January this setting will be unset again. Love snow, love these little pearls in WordPress.
For some time now, I am looking for a program for my addresses, for Mac. Mac has a program for this, in the system software but I do not like it that much. The prints are not the way I want them to be. I used to have a program for Mac that was called(…)
Doing a WordPress update (to 3.5) without making a backup. Everything crashes. But in the end everything is okay again. And then you’ll do that backup…
